Black bean and vegetable quesadillas and fruit salad were on the menu for the meal prepared by the Cooking with Kids program last Tuesday at the Attala County extension office.
Preparing the ingredients and cooking were Addison Ferguson, Katerina Weatherby, G’Nice Alston, Katelyn Weatherbhy, DJ Glaskox, Carlee Harmon, Olivia Cockroft, Harvey Warrington, Isaiah Crumble and Ivan Crumble. Draped with aprons as they took on chef duties, the young cooks were given lessons about health and good nutrition by extension personnel Becky Hamilton and Jackie Pullen as they washed and prepared vegetables.
As they cooked they were given lessons about each of the food groups. Nutrition-related games and physical activity were enjoyed following the meal.
