Correction:
A story published on page A3 of the Aug. 23 edition of The Star-Herald about the 2018 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) test results for both the Attala County and Kosciusko School Districts contained incorrect information. We inadvertently accessed the 2017 data and based our reporting onit instead of the current 2018 data. We apologize to students, administrators, teachers and parents who were provided this inaccurate information in the original story. Below is the data as it should have appeared.
The 2017-2018 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) test scores have been released, and student scores in both English Language Arts and mathematics continue to improve statewide.
For the purpose of monitoring annual progress, scores are classified within five levels. Level 4 is considered to reflect proficiency within a subject and Level 5 an advanced comprehension of the material. Students grades 3 through 12 are tested.
The following bulleted items present the sum of the percentage of students who tested proficient or advanced at the grade level indicated within a given testing area:
• ELA testing (grades 3 through 8; percentage of students measuring level 4 or 5)
Ethel High School (grades 7 and 8): 32.7%, 33.4%
Greenlee Elementary School (grades 3-6): 48.3%, 50%, 31.4%, 43.7%
Kosciusko Middle Elementary (grade 3): 50.8%
Kosciusko Upper Elementary (grades 4 and 5): 39.8%, 33.7%
Kosciusko Junior High (grades 6-8): 41.8%, 40%, 44.8%
Long Creek Elementary (grades 3-6): 17%, 30%, 48.1%, 32.3%
McAdams High School (grades 7 and 8): 18.2%, no data shown
