Boo Fest will bring an added attraction to the annual Safety Parade around the courthouse square Monday from 3:30 until 5 p.m.
After circling the square, Halloween fun for trick or treaters will continue on North Madison Street in front of the Strand Theater where there will be games and prizes offered to winners.
Businesses and groups who will have booths and activities to make Boo Fest a community event are Ivey Mechanical, Serve Pro, Ameriprise, Lindsay Financial, The Rusty Bucket, First United Methodist youth group, Lil’ Caesar’s, The Star-Herald, Renasant Insurance and Kosciusko-Attala Partnership (KAP).
“Dress in your favorite Halloween costume and join us for the safety parade. Bring your mom or dad to walk with you,” said G.G. Holmes, KAP Community Development.
Trick or treating is for children 14 years of age and under.
House of Horror
Jason Niles Park Pavilion will be converted to a House of Horror Thursday through Saturday beginning each night at 6 with the Kosciusko Fire Department responsible for the haunted attraction.
Tickets to experience the terrifying, heart pounding, adrenalin filled, terrifying House of Horror is $5.
Train rides will also be offered for $2. Concessions will be available.
The event is an annual fund raiser for the Kosciusko Volunteer Fire Department
Community events
Halloween activities are also being held in several communities and churches of the area.
Trunk or Treat will be held Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Abundant Life Church of God in Williamsville where treats for children will be distributed from the trunks of vehicles. Parking spaces for participating vehicles will be provided in a safe environment.
In the Hesterville Community, a fall festival and Trunk or Treat will be held Saturday night from 5-7 p.m. at the Hesterville Independent Baptist Church. A wiener roast and chili cookoff will be featured from 7 until 9 p.m. First, second and third prizes will be awarded to winners in the cookoff.
Christian Liberty M.B. Church on Tipton Street will host its annual Hallelujah Jubilee Festival on Halloween night. Pastor Dr. Marvin K. Myles said free food will be provided along with fun and fellowship during the activities from 5 to 8 p.m.
