Ricky Birmingham, 35, who had previously pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and forcible rape charges in a Feb. 20, 2018, incident recently changed his plea on both charges to guilty in Attala County Circuit Court.
As part of his plea deal, two other charges in the indictment were dropped.
On the recommendation of the Attala County district Attorney’s Office, Judge Joseph Loper sentenced Birmingham to two 20-year sentences, one in each of the accepted counts.
As a result of the deal, Birmingham will serve a total of 15 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by five years of supervised release.
