Three Attala County youths are hospitalized following a one-car accident on Highway 43 south just past the intersection with Highway 14 at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to relatives, Sarah Mathews, 17, driving a 2001 BMW, swerved to avoid an obstacle in the highway causing the car to flip landing on the right side of the highway.. Other passengers were Brady Mathews, 11, and Hannah Melton, 16.
Sarah was transported by ambulance to the University Medical Center. Brady was air lifted to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital and Hannah was transported by ambulance to the same hospital.. The three remain in the Jackson hospitals.
Sarah and Brady are children of Bobby and Iris Mathews and Hannah is the daughter of Steve and Gina Melton, all of Kosciusko.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Air Med, Med Stat, Attala Fire and Rescue and the Attala County Sheriff deputies responded to the accident.
