The McAdams High School Field House Project is a step closer to becoming a reality with the school board’s approval during a Thursday night meeting of the board.
Superintedent Bryan Weaver showed board members the plan submitted by the architectural firm of Carter-Miller Associates of Meridian. Weaver said the plan calls for a 2,000 to 2,500 sq. ft. addition to the existing field house instead of a new facility as was first discussed.

Cost to completion will probably run close to $350,000, which will include lockers and an upgrade to the existing weight room. Construction is not expected to begin until late in 2018, with completion projected for the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
The board also gave its approval of the $12,797,227 budget for the upcoming school year.
Forester John Moor with the Mississippi Forestry Service showed maps of 16th Section land in the Possumneck area, where timber was damaged by a tornado a year ago and gave a proposed plan for timber stand improvement on the acreage. The board gave its approval along with authorizing Moor to seek a trapper for beaver.

Approved for teacher positions at McAdams were Georgia Journey, history; Cynthia Conley, English; Veronica Woodard, business education. Those approved for Long Creek Elementary were Velbra Smith, Johnnie Armstrong and Angie Newsom and Tracey Ryals at Greenlee.
The consent agenda included travel, removal of fixed assets, and approval to destroy all records according to Mississippi Code.
