Kary Ellington took over the gavel Tuesday morning from Tim Pinkard as the new president of the Attala County Board of Supervisors.
By tradition, the Attala County Board of Supervisors rotates the president and vice president positions annually.
Ellington, who represents the District 4 in western Attala county, is serving his second term on the board.
In other action the board approved two new bridge projects in the county. Projects include replacing a bridge on Attala Road 5120 and Attala Road 3011.
Other actions taken by the board:
• rejecting bids for propane tanks at the former Jack Post building owned by the county;
• approving a contract with Western Star Trucking for new dump trucks;
• reappointed county attorney Scott Pickle, county engineer Christian Gardner, and board members with to the North Central Planning Development District;
• approved quarterly budgets for the sheriff’s office and tax collector.
