For another year, Waste Management will help keep Attala County clean.
The solid waste and recycling company bid for a one-year contract extension was unanimously approved during the Monday meeting of the Attala County Board of Supervisors.
Waste Management had the existing contract, and Arrow Disposal Service also submitted a proposal.
The Waste Management bid for trash collection was $18.98 per unit per month, or an annual total of $43,654.
“Arrow Disposal had a no bid proposal,” Chancery Clerk Gerry Taylor said. “Waste Management met all the specifications and its bid included a 10 cent drop from this year.”
The bid includes free trash collection to the approximately 290 churches within the unincorporated area of the county. It also provides collection at all of the county facilities at no charge to the county.
“Waste Management has been a good provider and I am glad that this bid will provide a price drop for our residents,” District 5 superintendent and board president Tim Pinkard said.
