The Attala County Board of Supervisors have approved the Fiscal Year 2019 budget.
$10,812,835 was calculated for total revenues and $12,335,000 for the beginning cash balance ($23,147,835 total). $12,120,939 was the total expenditure figure submitted. According to these figures, the county’s cash balance at the close of fiscal year 2019 is expected to be $11,026,896.
The Attala County School District is budgeted $12,670,890 in tax levy funds. It reflects an increase of $360,644 from 2018.
The mill rate for 11 of the 14 departments involved in the Attala County School District and Kosciusko Separate School District budgets remain the same as 2018. A request for an increase in funding for the Kosciusko Vo-Tech accounts for an increase of .02 mills, and there is a 1.23 mills increase in Attala County School District funding.
The county repayment of loans for the year is decreased by .04 mills.
The percentages of tax levy funds distributed to departments are as follows, according to figures provided by the county (totaling 102.8 percent):
Schools – 50.67 percent
General government – 34.91 percent
Roads and bridges – 10.94 percent
Holmes Community College – 3.14 percent
Hospital bonds – 1.34 percent
Library – 1.8 percent.
