Fundraising efforts are underway to support the family of a 12-year-old boy that died in a hunting accident in Attala County last week.
Garret Morgan of Vancleave was found dead at the scene after a tree stand accident near McCool on Dec. 26. According to a GoFundMe account, the child was in Attala County visiting family for the holidays.
No details were released about the boy’s death by authorities with the case under investigation. The Attala County Sheriff’s Office was also involved in the investigation.
“Garret's love and laughter will always ring in our hearts,” the family said on the page. “He loved playing football, fishing, hunting, card games, and loved the outdoors in general. Also, he was a proud member of the Vancleave Youth Football League. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and with the family associated with his faith and congregation.”
The account was set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
As of Monday morning over $9,000 was raised.
