Smiles of students at Long Creek Elementary School are brighter this week. Smiles To Go, a mobile dentistry lab, visited the school last Friday giving screenings, cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatment and x-rays to 179 students during the one-day visit.
Toni Scruggs, the regional manager, was accompanied by Dr. Chianti Woodfork and hygienists Haven Hankins and Maddie Pannell who worked in the dental setting with its portable equipment.
Following Attala County School Board approval, students brought consent forms from parents to participate. A report is given to each student explaining what was done and findings of the exam. Referrals are made if necessary.
Principal Dietrich Harmon said the school is thankful for Smiles To Go providing needed services to the community.
The north region clinic of Smiles To Go, based in Liberty, provided the care at Long Creek.
