The McAdams High School Field House project was tabled at the Monday night meeting of the Attala School Board meeting following recommendations by Superintendent Brian Weaver.
Initial plans were for new construction for the project, but an addition to the current building had also been under consideration.
Weaver told board members that the architect had suggested going back to the original plan for a new building.
After discussion, the board voted to explore other options.
In personnel matters, resignations were accepted from Samantha Myles, Allison Bramlett, William Bramlett, Patrick Dillinger, Kayla Dillinger, Hogan Briscoe III and Matthew Tremblay. New staff members hired were John David McCrory, Caroline Duncan, William Guttuso for Ethel High School; Danielle Black, Long Creek Elementary; Donna Griffin, Arik Newsome, Kimberly Showers, McAdams High School; Lakeshia Veasley, Greenlee Elementary.
An additional personnel matter included approval granted to apply for emergency Special Education endorsement for Latanya Thomas.
Tony Holder, director of the Kosciusko-Attala Career Tech Center, gave a report on the spending of funds. He also reported on the accomplishments of several students who will be taking part in state and possibly national competitions during coming months.
Following an executive session concerning personnel, the board voted to uphold a former decision.
Weaver told the board that no bids were received on the advertisement for salvage timber cutting. Approval was granted to advertise for hunting and fishing leases.
On the consent agenda, travel, school trips and disposal of fixed assets were approved.
Concerning financial matters, district financial statement and claims, club and activity accounts and advertising for fiscal year 2018-2019 school budget hearing were approved.
Graduation ceremonies will be held Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m. at McAdams High School and at 6 p.m. at Ethel High School.
Mrs. Denotris Jackson, assistant executive director of the Mississippi School Board Association, was welcomed as a guest at the meeting.
