With the approval of the District Apple IPad Initiative, students in grades 9-12 at Ethel High School and McAdams High School will be able to enhance their studies through use of the devices.
The Attala County School Board approved the initiative at the Monday night meeting at a cost of $76,00 from district funds and also federal funds. Cases for the Ipads, storage/charging stations and Ipad management software were included in the initiative. Each student issued an IPad will be required to pay a $25 insurance fee.
In personnel matters, resignations were accepted from Lacie Carlisle at Long Creek; Glenda Brunt, Greenlee cafeteria; Steve Stone, Ethel High School. The board approved the hiring of Marvin K. Myles, Ethel High School; Daena Hearon, Long Creek, pending certification; Erin McCrory, Lisa Sartin, Leann Dempsey, Greenlee Elementary; Kasheena Roger, Long Creek; Michael Kirkwood, Ethel High School.
In 16th section land matters, Mississippi Public Broadcasting was given a 60-day lease extension and the lease held by Ben Murphy was cancelled. Following bid openings, leases were awarded to Deer Lake Hunting Club, Brian Cotton, John Shaw, Scotty Tanner, Doug Crosby, Community Hunting Club, Chapel Hill Hunting Club, Florence Pettie/Brad Threet.
The bid of .639 per gallon submitted by Scott Propane was accepted for the year.
Child nutrition concerns included approval of the ACSD Food Service Procurement Plan, Child Nutrition Handbook, Cafeteria price list and Health Council Report.
In a called meeting of the board on June 21, the board approved the FY 2017 Title I Project, 2017 Sped Project and the recommendation of Speech Pathologist Meagan McCulloch.
