Accepting timber bids, giving approval of a roofing project and personnel matters dominated the Monday night meeting of the Attala County School Board.
B&G Wood was top bidder at $214,854 for the sale of timber on 107 acres. Cooper Marine Timber submitted the winning bid of $98,860 on 43 acres. Other 16th section business included accepting a hunting and fishing bid from Possumneck Advernture for $6 per acre on 240 acres. Virgil and Clara Summers were given a 30-day cancellation notification and approval was granted to negotiate a lease with Janet Adkerson.
The board gave its approval to grant Carter Miller Associates to advertise for bids on the roofing project at Ethel High School.
On the consent agenda, Tammie Stubb was given a bus easement, travel and field trips were approved.
Concerning personnel, resignations were accepted from Greenlee Elementary teachers Rachel Black, Jessica Black and Lauren Wallis from Long Creek Elementary. Daveda Newell and Teresa Hull were hired as substitute teachers at Long Creek.
Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, teacher assistants will receive an additional $1,500 per year following action of the board Monday night.
School will dismiss Friday for spring break and students will return to classes on Monday, March 20.
