The Attala County School Board approved the hiring of administrators and the school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year during its Monday night meeting.
School administrators returning to their positions are Culley Newman, Greenlee Elementary; Dietrich Harmon, Long Creek Elementary; Jackie Sandifer, McAdams High School; Jim Wood, Ethel High School; Tony Holder, Kosciusko-Attala Career Technical Center.
The following district administrators approved were Tara Kyle, Title I Director/Gifted Director; Renee McNeal, SPED Director; Selena Schuster, Testing Coordinator /Director/504; Lorean Kilbert, Teacher Support Team; Carol Halderman, SPED Case Manager/Title I Administrative Assistant; Anna Burns, SPED Transitions Coordinator/ Developmentally Delayed Instructor; Megan McCulloch, Carri Ray, Randi Edwards, Speech Pathologists; James Jones, District Technology Coordinator; Dawn Hodges, 16th Section/Student Data; Cheri Joiner, Business Manager; Carolyn Patterson, Accounts Payable; Gay Ann Fancher, Food Service Direcstor; Eric Rockett, Transportation Director; Owen Cross, Robert Hightower, Mechnics; Walter Eskridge, Head Maintenance; Leonard Brown, Assistant Maintenance.
Supterintendent Bryan Weaver said the school calendar of 182 days was approved pending the proposed legislation of reducing the school calendar to 170 days.
The PTO at Greenlee Elementary is in the process of providing a 12-foot lighted sign and the board voted to provide $2,500 from district funds. Greenlee School will pay $2,500 and the remainder PTO will provide the remainder of the cost of the sign.
Field trips were approved for Beta Club members from Ethel and McAdams Schools to attened the Beta Club Convention in Biloxi Feb. 19-21; Long Creek third grade students to visit the Jackson Zoo on March 9; first and third grade Greenlee students to visit the Veterinary School at Mississippi State University.
Travel was approved for Renee McNeal, Anna Burns and Carol Halderman to attend the National Council for Exceptional Children Special Education Convention and Expo in Boston, Mass., April 17-23.
A bus easement was approved for the Rosie McAdory estate.
