Attala County Supervisors approved their share of a matching grant with the Mississippi Department of Transportation to continue repairs at the Kosciusko-Attala County Airport.
Supervisors approved $2,005 in funding, which is half of the matching grant that will help the city and county gain right-of-ways for a runway rehabilitation at the airport at its meeting Monday morning.
The Kosciusko-Attala County Airport received $760,710 from the Federal Aviation Administration for runway rehabilitation. The money received from the FAA will cover 90% of the project, with the city and county splitting the rest.
In a June 2015 meeting, the Kosciusko Board of Alderman approved a bid from Dickerson & Bowen Inc. to handle the renovations at the airport.
In other action the supervisors:
• approved the cancellation of an Escrow Agreement with Trustmark Bank after all back taxes were paid on the former Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital;
• approved a grant application with the Emergency Medical Services Operating Fund totaling $7,033 for new equipment for EMS Medstat.
• granted J.C. Cheek Inc. permission to use a county bridge to demonstrate a new product, which will cause no damage to the bridge, according to county engineer Christian Gardner.
The next schedule meeting of the Attala County Board of Supervisors will be Nov. 7 at the Chancery Court building.
