Attala County crews are scheduled to begin the annual county bridge inspections in the coming days.
One hundred and twelve bridges from around the city of Kosciusko and Attala County will be inspected as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration, county engineer Christian Gardner told the Attala County Board of Supervisors Monday morning. The federal government will cover the $32,240 tab for the inspections to be done by Gardner.
In other action the board agreed to apply for a $150,000 grant through the Mississippi Developme
nt Authority. The 80-20 matching grant would be used for a new access road to the Kosciusko-Attala County Airport.
The board also:
• approved travel for constables to attend mandatory training in Meridan;
• heard from Brenda Harmon about concerns over the county jail and liquor ordinance;
• heard a funding request from members of the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club.
The next meeting of the Attala County Board of Supervisors will be Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. in the Chancery Court building.
