Our community, city, and county lost a dear friend in the death of Nancy Green, long-time reporter and lifestyles editor for The Star-Herald. I personally have known Nancy for over 50 years and had many memorable moments with her through The Star-Herald and in our Sunday school class. She will really be missed.
We also extend sympathy to the families of Mrs. Wilma McCool and Mrs. Jean Atwood. They too will be greatly missed.
Theresa Henry is in her new house now, but still has a lot of moving, arranging and decorating to do. Morgan, Savanna, and children will be moving into her previous home.
Jimmy and Betty Long of Florence visited recently with Pearlean Cummins, and they all visited with Bernice Miller. Pearlean suffered a fall while Jimmy and Betty were at her home and suffered multiple bruises. Fortunately, nothing was broken, but she has plenty of black and blue on her face and arms.
Carolyn McCrory also suffered a fall in which she broke one arm near her shoulder and the other arm near her wrist. Both arms have been in a sling for several weeks. As active as Carolyn is, trying to function with both arms incapacitated can be very frustrating.
Terry and Kathy Cox came by the Alexanders for a brief visit.
Larry and Sandra Howard have been spending some time in Tupelo watching grandson Nolan play baseball. Larry has been assisting Clint with the team as well as getting a chance to be with grandchildren Nolan and Acy Jane.
Recent visitors with Robert and Jeannette Alexander were their grandson Matt Gordon, his wife Brittany and son Wyatt, of Youngsville, Louisiana. They were spending the weekend with parents in Vicksburg and came to visit one day while they were home.
Greg and Jan Broom of Longview, Texas, and Earline Daugherty visited with Robert and Jeannette recently. Jan is the niece of Earline and Robert. They all enjoyed Sunday luncheon at Cain’s Catch in Kosciusko before coming to the Alexander’s.
Bob, Peggy, and Adam Alexander were in Rainsville, Alabama, last weekend for a paint horse show. Only Bob and Adam were going to ride as Peggy is still recovering from her knee surgery.
Our prayers this week include those who have lost loved ones and those who are recovering from illnesses and accidents. Also pray for their caregivers, our state and our country

The West Civic Club held its annual West School Reunion Saturday, May 5. Even though it was a rainy day, the turnout was great. There were approximately 50 people, including the club members. Bro. Jerry Tate memorialized six members who have passed since our last reunion. He had their pictures displayed and told a little about each person. This was a very nice presentation. It was fun catching up with old friends, teachers and hearing what has been going on in the past year. The West Civic Club members served a delicious meal consisting of chicken strips, baked potato casserole, green beans, curried fruit, a roll, dipping sauce and a dessert choice among banana pudding, caramel cake or lemon ice box cake. The meal was colorful and very delicious. Since this is one of our annual fund raising projects used for repairs on the buildings and other projects during the year, we appreciated all that helped out. A very special “thank you” goes to Barbara Ann Young for her work in the kitchen, cooking, serving, and helping with cleanup and anything else that was needed.
Let’s remember our friends and families that are sick, need help or are in the hospital. I am sure they would all appreciate this gesture.
