The Attala County School Board accepted the resignation of long-time board member Willie Perteet last week. Perteet is leaving the board following his election to the county Board of Supervisors to serve District 4.
“I’ve enjoyed it all. It’s definitely been an honor to serve for the school district and the community,” Perteet said in his farewell. “For a lot of the accomplishments we’ve had, I can pat myself and everyone else on the back.”
Anyone wishing to fulfill the rest of Perteet’s term can apply to the board no later than Jan. 6, 2020. Applicants must have a high school diploma or higher and live in the district Perteet represented.
“It is very important to open this up to everyone to be considered,” said Chairman Christy Moody.
