The Attala County School Board approved rehiring current certified teachers for the 2018-2019 school year, added two to the list, and hired two for the remainder of this year during Monday night’s meeting.
Connie Bell and Steve Stone will join the staff of Ethel High School for the remainder of the year. Kasheife Foster was named to Long Creek staff and Suzanne Pee to Ethel as certified teachers for the coming year. Doris Cawthorn was named a substitute teacher for Greenlee.
Resignations were accepted from Georgia Journey at McAdams and Brittany Beauchamp at Long Creek.
Travel was approved for HOSA students at the Kosciusko-Attala Vo Tech Center to assist with the Horses for Handicapped event at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on April 18. Pre-K students at Long Creek will attend the Children’s Museum in Jackson and other students to Mississippi State University in Starkville.
Superintendent Bryan Weaver gave board members an update on completed repairs at the federal programs office on East Washington Street. He also reported on construction of the handicapped accessible ramp at the baseball field at Ethel High School.
Classes will dismiss at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at McAdams High School and Long Creek Elementary in celebration of McAdams girls playing at 1:30 p.m. in a champion game at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
