The Nation's Weather for Sunday, January 14, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Behind the winter storm, lake-effect snow is in store for
much of the Great Lakes today. The heaviest snow is expected
to fall across parts of western and northern New York, with
Buffalo among the major cities affected. At the same time,
areas from northern Virginia to New England will have snow
showers and even a few snow squalls cross the region through
the day that can suddenly drop the visibility and quickly
coat roads. A new storm will develop over the southern
Plains, bringing snow from Colorado into Missouri. Bitterly
cold air will continue to descend southward and expand to
the east, bringing the lowest temperatures of the season so
far. Conditions will begin to improve in the Northwest, with
any leftover snow, ice and rain coming to an end in the
afternoon.
