Ila Thaxton Burden, 93, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, peacefully at her home. Ila was born on September 16, 1927. She was a resident of Kosciusko for more than 52 years.
Graveside services are Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Cemetery. The Rev. Don Cook and Rev. Walter Hines will officiate with Rev. Chris Cauthen providing the music. Pallbearers are the children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Burden worked in the Kosciusko School District at the Lower Elementary School as a teacher’s aide for more than 17 years. She was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and more recently a longtime member of the Marie Harmon Sunday School class.
Mrs. Burden is survived by sons, Don Burden (Maria) of White Lake, MI, Larry Burden (Rhonda) of Spring, TX, and Rick Burden (Mary Kay) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Kristy Bell (Keith) of Mobile, AL, Michael Burden (Sarah Jean) of Houston, TX, Sarah Burden of Spring, TX, Eric Burden of Farmington Hills, MI, Chris Burden of Cincinnati, OH, and Andrew Burden (Kinsie Carroll) of Newnan, GA.
Mrs. Burden is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alexis Wilson (Colton Wrieden) of Sweet Springs, MO, Keith Bell of Mobile, AL, Bryleigh Bell of Mobile, AL, and Ila Jean Burden of Houston, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Her life and love was her family.
Mrs. Burden was preceded in death by her husband of over 62 years, Donald Burden; her parents, Lilly Mae Thaxton and John Thaxton; brothers, Charlie Thaxton, John Robert Thaxton, Boyd Thaxton; sisters, Susie McManus and Vera Edwards.
