Annie Ruth McMillan Culpepper, 89, of Sallis, went home to be with the Lord on Mar. 14, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, after a brief illness. Annie Ruth entered this world in McAdams, on May 22, 1931, as the fourth child of Gordon Sallis McMillan (1903) and Annie Bell Cain McMillan (1907). She attended Durant High School in Durant. She met her future husband, James L Culpepper, while still in high school and they were married on May 22, 1948.Annie Ruth accepted Christ at an early age in life. She was an active member of Harmonia Church in Sallis, and of Immanuel Church in Durant, for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, bluegrass concerts, cruises and serving the Lord. She was a widow for the past 16 years and, while staying at home, she enjoyed the company of her two beautiful cats. She is survived by her four children, Gloria Derrick, Memphis, Martha (Russell) Greer, Hermanville, Jim (Marjorie) Culpepper, Memphis, and Paul (Mahala) Culpepper, Cumming, Georgia; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Sallis McMillan; mother, Annie Bell (Cain) McMillan; husband, James Lamar (Bud) Culpepper; brother, Robert Daniel McMillan; sister, Martha Francis McMillan Dunning; brother, David Gordon McMillan; and granddaughter, Susan Michelle Dorsett Roby. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 18, at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Harmonia Cemetery in Sallis.
