The Kosciusko Water & Light Plant is asking customers to please begin taking efforts to conserve water starting at noon today, February 19, 2021, through Monday, February 22, 2021, at 5 p.m.
This conservation request is due to the prolonged period this week of sub-freezing temperatures,which has caused the demand for water to exceed our ability to produce water. In other words, more water is being used than we can treat and pump. We are not currently in a crisis situation, but are being pro-active in trying to avoid a water crisis, by asking our customers to please help use conserve this resource.
If customers do not help us in this conservation effort, we could be required to issue a system wide boil water notice or even worse is a system wide loss of water pressure, which would require a complete water system shut down, resulting in no water flow to any homes and businesses. We want to emphasize this is not simply a scare tactic, but instead a hard truth and total reality. We want to thank our customers in advance for their help in this matter and we plan to be back to normal operations by the end of next week.
Conservation Tips:
- Do not use water unnecessarily
- Do not allow faucets to drip to prevent freezing.
- Take shorter showers and/or use less bath water to bath
- Do not wash vehicles or rinse ice off vehicles
