Kosciusko will begin the second round of the 4A baseball playoffs at home Friday, but Kosciusko softball
will be on the road. The Whippets will play New Albany while the Lady Whippets will be at North
Pontotoc.
Both opponents were determined by games played Tuesday evening in decisive games of best-of-three
series. New Albany baseball defeated Northeast Lauderdale 12-4 and North Pontotoc softball clobbered
Northeast Lauderdale 17-3.
The second game for Kosciusko baseball will be at New Albany Saturday with Game 3 at Kosciusko
Monday if needed. Kosciusko softball will be at home Saturday for Game 2 and on the road Monday if
there is a third game.
The baseball team gets to open at home because the Whippets won Region 3-4A. The Lady Whippets will
open on the road as a result of losing a tiebreaker with Caledonia for the top spot in the region.

homer by Bennie Powell in the bottom of the seventh. It was far less dramatic for the Lady Whippets with
11-1 and 11-2 wins over Amory.

The Whippets Houston 6-5 and 12-3 while New Albany lost twice to Houston 12-1 and 11-6. North
Pontotoc softball split two games with Amory, a 4-2 loss and a 7-3 win.
