McAdams volleyball had a 3-0 victory over Mississippi Schools for the Deaf last week and a 3-0 loss to Nanih Waiya in the Lady Bulldogs’ first Region 6-1A match of the season.
After a 25-16 win in the first set against MSD, McAdams wrapped up the victory by eking out a couple of nail biters, 27-25 and 26-24. Coach Kris Upchurch gave credit to Taliah Gadson and Ta’naisha Moore. “Both contributed a good bit to us being able to hold on and win,” he said.
“We didn’t play great, but we played well enough to win, in the coaching world you never apologize for a win, that is for sure. You take a win wherever you can get it.”
Upchurch attributed the victory to his team’s athleticism. “We have athletes all over the court. We’re super athletic. I don’t want to say we aren’t volleyball players. We’re athletes playing volleyball right now and we’re trying to figure out how to be volleyball players.”
Nanih Waiya defeated McAdams 25-7, 25-13, 25-12. The Lady Bulldogs will continue region pay Thursday at Noxapater.
