At the Kosciusko School District Oct. 11 meeting, the board approved personnel changes, financials, travel, and upcoming fundraisers.
Financials
Approvals concerning financials were as follows:
• a temporary easement with Larry Olive and the Attala County Board of Supervisors with the Kosciusko School District.
• accepting a check from KFEE for chairs in the amount of $205,856.
• advertising bids on 1993 Bluebird bus, 2003 Buick Century, and 2009 Ford F-350.
• a pay increase of $1.00 an hour for all child nutrition staff. This will go into effect on Nov. 8. Monies were received from the state and the district wants to give back to employees for dedication.
Personnel
Approvals concerning personnel include:
• Lee Staten as a paraprofessional for 2021-22 school year to work with one or more students for tutorial.
• Avery Terrell as a paraprofessional with KHS soccer for the remainder of the school year.
• Angie Holman, Melanie Myrick, and Margaret Sanders as substitute teachers for the remainder of the school year.
• Resignation from Kelly Kelley as assistant teacher at KLE.
• Caitlin Cain and Wanda Witzel as assistant teachers for the remainder of the school year.
• Resignation from Pam Patton, effective June 30, 2022.
• Eudora Johnson as a full-time child nutrition worker and Tammie Seals as a full-time child nutrition worker.
• Courtney Poole as assistant teacher at KME for the remainder of the school year.
Travel and fundraisers
Approvals made regarding travel and fundraisers include the following:
• Pam Patton to travel to UMMC in Jackson for Project SEARCH interns visit on Nov. 9.
• Michelle Nowell, Josh Dodd, Logan Cheek, and Henry Coats to attend Capturing Kids Hearts on Nov. 1-2 in Charleston, South Carolina.
• Katrina Overstreet to attend MSU Library Workshop in Starkville on Oct. 26.
• College and Career Readiness class to visit Hunter Engineering on Oct. 19 in Durant.
• Athletic travel for basketball, junior high basketball, and soccer.
• Baseball booster club fundraiser for raffling 12 guns in 12 days Nov. 8-19.
• KUE to do a fundraiser with La-Tee-Da Sept. 24-Oct. 8.
• KHS softball booster club to sell sweatshirts as a fundraiser and autographed Dak Prescott jerseys in the first week of Oct.
• KHS soccer booster club to have two fundraisers—Whippet cards and the selling of blankets.
