Charles W. “Tex” Ritter is retiring this month from Sanderson Farms Board of Directors, effective at the annual shareholders’ meeting to be held at the corporate office. He has served 29 years on the board beginning his service in 1988.
He is the longest serving independent board member, according to Joe F. Sanderson Jr., Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer for Sanderson Farms.
Sanderson Farms, headquartered in Laurel, is a poultry processing company engaged in production, processing, marketing and distribution of fresh, frozen and other prepared food items.
“Tex has been a valued advisor to Sanderson Farms and the company has experienced tremendous success and growth under his years of leadership. Not only has his advice and counsel as a board member and Chairman of the Audit Committee contributed to the company’s success, but the example in leadership, integrity and honesty he provides all of us has set a tone for the entire company,” said Sanderson food items.
Ritter served as President and Director of the Attala Company in Kosciusko from 1967 until his retirement in 1992. In 2011, he also retired from his position as a director of First M&F Corporation and Merchants and Farmers Bank in Kosciusko.
