Attala County Relay for Life has been rescheduled for Friday, June 16, and will be held at the park adjacent to Renasant Bank across from Kosciusko City Hall. The event was originally planned for last week but was cancelled because of bad weather.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society. Theme is “We Are The Passionate.”
A reception for cancer survivors will be held at city hall from 5 to 6 p.m. with the kickoff scheduled to begin immediately following in the park across the street.
“We invite all survivors to come out and celebrate with us. We will have their new 2017 survivor T-shirt and they will be served cake and punch,” said Kayla Vance.
Following the reception will be the survivors walk. Friends and relatives will be invited to walk with them.
Serving as chairman is Kayla Vance, senior community manager, with Sylvia Blaylock, honorary chairperson, who will open the festivities of the evening.
Students of The Dance Company and the new local up and coming band East of West will provide entertainment.
There will be a glow run around the square starting at 8 p.m. The luminaria ceremony will be conducted from 9:30-10 p.m. when luminaries will be lighted and displayed. Closing ceremony is planned at 10.
Dodge ball and other activities along with food and desserts will be served by several teams. Crawfish donated by Piggly Wiggly of Collinsville will be available. Small Time Hot Dog will also provide food.
