National Guard send-off Monday
The Mississippi National Guard unit 2-114th Bravo Battery will leave Kosciusko Monday, March 12, for deployment. Buses will depart at approximately 5:15 a.m. from the armory to Medgar Evers International Airport in Jackson. The buses will be escorted out of town by Kosciusko Police Department, The American Legion Riders Post #44 and the Patriot Guard Riders. The buses will have law enforcement escort all the way to the airport.
The soldiers will leave behind family for over a year. The City of Kosciusko and soldiers’ families request a citywide patriot send off. The city will line the highways with American flags. We ask that you consider lining Hwy. 12 beginning at CVS/Exxon and Hwy 35 South to Walmart with flags, banners, signs, waves, cheering and smiles. We ask that patrons not extend beyond Walmart on Hwy. 35 South for safety reasons. Free flags will be at the City Hall beginning Wednesday, March 7.

KLE Pre-K registration through March 8
KLE will hold Pre-K registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through March 8. To register, the child must be present and you need two current proofs of residence, an updated shot record, township and range, and the child’s birth certificate.
Dancing Rabbit meeting set
The Dancing Rabbit Genealogical and Historical Society will hold its March 14 meeting at the Museum of Mississippi History located at 222 North Street, Jackson for a self-guided tour. The meeting will begin at the entrance of the museum at 10:00 A.M. General admission is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for seniors.
Talent Show
The ninth district Order of the Eastern Star will be having a community talent show March 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the CMC building in Kosciusko. Come show your talent. Free admission.
Attala County GOP
You are invited to a meeting at the courthouse in Kosciusko at 6 p.m. March 20. They will discuss topics such as local growth and development and get feedback on local issues. The party is conducting a candidate search with the goal of filling the local ballot with Republicans in the next county/city election. Kick off your political career and help improve the quality of life for fellow Attalans. Other possibilities include a women's club or a high school club to promote conservative values. ‘A Time of Honor’
Attention Vietnam Veterans, the Vietnam 50th commemorative book “A Time of Honor” is available. Bring your DD214 and pick up a copy at the Veterans Service.
Bobcat meeting
There will be a Bobcat Meeting Saturday, March 10 at 11 am. The meeting will be held at the Tipton Street Cafeteria.
Egg Hunt March 31
On Saturday, March 31, the courthouse lawn in downtown Kosciusko will be the location of an Easter Egg Hunt.
Picking 35 April 7
Plans are underway for the second annual Picking 35, slated for Saturday, April 7. Picking 35 is a 50-mile stretch of yard sales beginning in Attala County near Carmack that runs down Highway 35 through Kosciusko, Carthage and then ending in South Leake County at Walnut Grove. Spring plant swap
The Flora Spring Plant Swap, scheduled for 9 am Thursday, Mar. 29, will be held in the Flora Library meeting room. Bring one or two well-rooted plants to swap, and others if you want to share. Directions to the swap: Taking Hwy 49 to Flora, the South Flora exit at the Bank of Yazoo, the library is about a mile on the right. From Hwy 22, the library is a block off Main Street.
