Heaven is My Goal, a ministry founded by Evangelist Martha Jones in 2009, reached a milestone with the grand opening of a house of worship on Saturday night at 5787 Attala Road 4045 in the McAdams Community.
To God be the glory, the theme carried out in the ministry, was further proclaimed by the congregation during the Saturday night program as they celebrated the accomplishment of a goal and moving into the facility.
The mobile unit was donated and moved to the McAdams location from near Ethel. “We were faced with a challenge as work began on the unit which was in very bad disrepair,” said Jones.
With donations from merchants, individuals, organizations and churches, the building began to take on a new look as work progressed, Jones said. The donation of pews and pulpit from an area church that constructed a new building completed the conversion of a dilapidated building to a house of worship.
Jones began the fellowship ministry following a radio broadcast. In addition, the ministry includes the Anointed Praisers and a Fellowship Choir who follow Evangelist Jones as she ministers to congregations throughout the area.
In addition to Heaven is My Goal, Evangelist Jones ministers by serving as assistant to Pastor Tony McBride Sr. at New Center Ridge M.B. Church.
She has been employed by the Attala County School District since 1991, and is currently serving as Child Nutrition Manager at McAdams High School.
The congregation of Heaven is My Goal meets at 5 p.m. each Sunday and at 6:45 p.m. every Tuesday for Bible classes.
Others associated with Evangelist Jones in the ministry are her assistant, Freda Jones; Evangelist Vicky Roby; Musicians Gloria Lewis, Alex Erving, Quayla Witt, Rejohn Toten and Shamarian Greer; secretary, Sharon Veasley; Regina Skinner, primary teacher; Evangelist Benita Rayford, teen teacher.
