The Kosciusko Lions Club’s annual chicken plate fundraiser proved to be another success October 31, as volunteers turned out early to cook and serve hundreds of meals in downtown Kosciusko.
The event, held in the Renasant Bank parking lot, drew steady traffic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with community members lining up to pick up plates featuring chicken, coleslaw, beans, and bread.
Lions Club volunteers began preparations early in the morning, grilling and packing meals to meet the high demand. The club sold hundreds of plates, with proceeds supporting the organization’s charitable work throughout Attala County.
Funds raised from the event will help provide eyeglasses, hearing aids, and other essential assistance to residents in need. The fundraiser also supports the club’s annual Christmas Basket Project, which delivers about 240 food baskets to local families each year.
Founded in 1940, the Kosciusko Lions Club has spent more than 80 years serving the community and supporting Lions Club International’s broader mission of addressing vision, hunger, diabetes, childhood cancer, and environmental challenges.
The club extended its thanks to all who purchased plates, volunteered, or helped make the fundraiser a success.
