The Attala County Unit of Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi (REPM) held the first meeting for the 2015-2016 school year at the Oprah Winfrey Boys & Girls Club.
The program for the month was presented by Dr. Phil Sutphin from Decatur. He is the new state Director for District III. He gave updates on the state of PERS and also addressed questions and concerns from those in attendance. He also gave information about the upcoming State meeting for District III that was held in Philadelphia.
As a Community Service Project, the group made a $300 donation to the OWBGC. This donation will be used for the Academic Recognition Program. CVO Maudie Benton and CEO Donald Evans accepted the donation on behalf of the Board. Those present for the presentation were (left to right) Juanita Fleming, Mary Lou Faurot, Virginia Clark, Cathy Kimbrough, Manuel Cotton, Maudie Benton, Donald Evans, Dr. Phil Sutphin, Bobby J. Smith, Sarah McKinney, Gloria Cotton, Al Pauthenia Cotton, and Nadine Myrick. Others present but not pictured were Ora Gladney and Eula Jones.
