“Position yourself for a bright future,” was among admonitions motivational speaker Morris Morrison presented to Kosciusko High School and Junior High students who assembled at the Attala County Coliseum Wednesday morning.
He also addressed Kosciusko school officials, teachers, school board members, parents and other residents on Wednesday night in the coliseum.
Morrison, who came for the programs at the approval of the school board of trustees, was introduced by Kosciusko School Superintendent Gina Smith.
Morrison, who grew up in New York City, was raised by his aunt following the death of his parents. After the death of his aunt, he said he became an orphan for the second time and made a promise to himself that he would be all he could to glorify his family.
“God designed you for a reason,” he told students. He urged them to become motivated, take action in their lives and not follow the crowd but be a leader.
“Instincts take me out of situations. My advice is to follow your ‘gut’ in making decisions. That is the way God speaks to you,” he said.
He called a number of students from their seats to join him in making various points in his presentation. They included applying leadership potential, setting high goals and standards in life and making choices that will affect their lives in a positive way.
Kosciusko Policemen Bobby Land, Cody Williams and Bradley Fancher assisted him along with several students as he stressed the importance of respect to law enforcement. He urged students to express appreciation to officers for their service.
Morrison is a graduate of Fairmont State University in West Virginia where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s in business from West Virginia University. He travels throughout the country and abroad inspiring motivation through his presentations.
