In 2018, the world lost one of the best known evangelistic pastors that has ever preached the Word of God. He was and will continue to be one of the greatest examples of mankind that was and is revered by most of the people in the world. As most of you realize I am speaking of Billy Graham.
He was a great light to the people, not only in the United States, but to the entire world. He has one simple message and that is “God Loves You.” His message resonates among millions of people around the world and will continue to do so for many years to come. I would say from now to eternity but with the vileness of the world and the corruption that is in it, I can only hope that people will remember Graham’s simple message.
It is my hope that all of us would desire to have the same effect on people that Billy Graham had on the millions of people that heard his message. Even though we will probably never have the same platform he had, our entire congregation may be the ones closest to us. Our family, neighbors, friends, coworkers, and anyone that we have contact with could be our world and how our lives radiate to them could make a difference in their life. Your light that you share from how you speak, act, react to situations, and care for people can make a difference from the ones listening to and watching you in your everyday life.
Every one of us in each and every day of our life will face trials and tribulations from the world. I firmly believe that how we react to these situations will speak volumes to the ones around us and allow them to see our God given talents. Witnessing is the only way we can reach some people about God’s amazing grace and love. It doesn’t matter what we are doing or where we are, someone is always going to be watching us and our reactions.
Billy Graham once said, “A real Christian is a person who can give his pet parrot to the town gossip.” As Christians we should never be ashamed of what we are doing or what we say. Whatever we are doing the message that Graham always preached, “God Loves You,” should be our message to anyone that we come in contact with. This message doesn’t always have to be audible but needs to be shown through our life style and how we react to situations and how we treat others.
With Billy Graham’s death the world lost a great evangelist. We also need to remember that we are evangelist ourselves and should always be in the business of proclaiming how great our God is and how much He loves you!
After his death I saw a cartoon of Billy Graham being welcomed to the pearly gates by St. Peter. He was told to come on in and there were millions of people inside Heaven wanting to tell him “Thank You.”
What a great message. I wonder if anyone will be waiting on us in Heaven to say, “Thank you.”
