In this second article on GROWING, I refer you to Psalm 119:9-16. Keep in mind our emphasis is on GROWING, especially growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
The Psalmist asks a question in verse 9: “How can a young man keep his way pure? He answers, “By keeping it according to thy word.” The Psalmist then gives guidance in verse10-16. Here is what I see in those verses:
— Seek the Lord on a regular basis.
“With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments” (v.10).
— Treasure His truth.
“Thy word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against Thee” (v.11).
— Be teachable.
“Blessed art Thou, O Lord; Teach me Thy statutes” (v. 12).
— Openly tell others.
“With my lips I have told of all the ordinances of Thy mouth” (v. 13)
— Rejoice.
“I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches” (v. 14)
— Spend some time meditating.
“I will meditate on Thy precepts, and regard Thy ways” (v. 15)
— Honor God.
“I shall delight in Thy statutes; I shall not forget Thy word” (v. 16).
Words of wisdom from the Psalmist to help us grow in grace and knowledge. As you read over these verses, I challenge you to test yourself using these two words: Am I.
