W.A. and Martha Miles announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Ruth Miles, to John Russell Dodds of Sessums, Mississippi.
Jessica is the granddaughter of the late Grover and Evelyn O’Briant of the Friendship community and the late Winston and Lottie Miles of Weir, MS. Jessica graduated from Kosciusko High School in 2011, Holmes Community College in 2013, and Mississippi State University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. This fall she will begin her fourth year teaching 12th-grade mathematics for the Choctaw County School District.
John is the son of Russell Dodds of Sessums and his wife Haley. He is the grandson of the late Alvin Franklin and Annie Ruth Dodds of Charleston, SC, originally from Starkville. John graduated from Starkville Academy in 2010 and Mississippi State University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He worked two years for Pritchard Engineering in Starkville before starting his own business as a broiler chicken farmer with Peco Foods, Inc. in 2016. He also owns and manages a growing herd of beef cattle.
The couple will wed on July 6, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church in Kosciusko, and they plan to live on his farm in Oktibbeha County.
