The old church, the preacher and the wasp

As this article goes to press, deer season will be history. I know some hunters have their beagle packs tuned up like well-oiled machines, and in the month of February they will be chasing rabbits. I might even get in on one of those hunts, but for the most part I will be gearing up for turkey season.

Southern snow memories

We southern hunters dream of killing a big buck in the snow. Why? I guess because it is so rare that we get it here in the Deep South. Maybe I dream that because I read so many outdoor stories in hunting magazines when I was young.

I told my wife that I did not know what in the world I was going to write about this week. She responded with “Why don’t you skip a week?” I told her no because many people have told me they hope that just because I am retiring from law enforcement that I do not quit writing these stories.
