The Kosciusko boys’ cross-country team opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the French Camp Invitational. The Whippets finished with a team score of 134, behind Clinton 22, Lafayette 63 and Neshoba Central 73.
Coach Greg Cooper was pleased with the team's performance.
“Being virtual and not being able to practice for two weeks kind of set us back,” he said.
Individual goals were set for the runners, and most of them met or exceeded their goals.
Jorge Orduna was Kosciusko's top runner, finishing eighth out of 102 competitors with a time of 18:52 for five kilometers (3.1 miles).
“He ran a really good and smart race. I was really proud of him,” Cooper said.
He was followed by Cole Wilson 34th (22:10), Lem Whitcomb 57th (23:42), Daniel Van 59th (24:06), Perry Lewis 63rd (24:58), Cooper Sparks 69th (25:34) and Grayson Blaylock 79th (26:08.9).
