Darren Milner, executive director of the Kosciusko-Attala Partnership chamber of commerce, announced late last week that he will leave that position at the end of the year to return to the banking industry. He will join the staff of Attala County Bank, which will open its branch at the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Veterans Memorial Drive in 2022.
In a resignation letter he submitted to the KAP board of directors last week, Milner said he as grateful for the experience and expects to remain involved in the community.
“I have met so many amazing people throughout the State of Mississippi, and have enjoyed working with our Board Members, the City of Kosciusko, Aspire Mississippi Team, Attala County Supervisors, my staff, our valued Partners, and countless others,” the letter reads. “I’ve listened, learned, failed, and succeeded along the way. I may be leaving the office, but I look forward to being an active part of things to come.”
KAP board Chairman Michelle Nicholson said Milner will be missed.
“I am excited for him and his family. I am so appreciative of the work he has done at the KAP,” said Nicholson.
Although the board has named a search committee, the board is not going to rush into naming a replacement, she said. The search committee is expected to write a job description this month and post it just after the first of the year.
“We are in no rush. We want to make sure that will fill this position with the correct person,” Nicholson said. “We want to make sure we hire someone who knows and loves our town as much as we do.”
