The Ethel Lady Tigers played one game this week, losing 3-1 in their rematch against Noxapater.
The scores by set were 20-25, 25-21, 30-28, and 25-23. Brailyn Rone led hitting with 14 kills, while Elena White added 13 kills.
Jaylynn Black led assists with nine, while Karlee Barret added eight. Black led defensively as well with six blocks, while Carleigh Blaine added three digs. Mylee McBride added three kills and a dig.
“We had lots of mistakes and we were not giving ourselves a chance to win,” head coach Jennifer Black said, “It seemed like we struggled more than anything.”
Black said the Lady Tigers dealt with injuries in the game but did not want it to be an excuse. The Lady Tigers had a player suffer an injury in warmups as a player sprained her ankle, and in the third set a player suffered a concussion. Black said she has some players who have shown they hustle.
“They are stretching and diving and running after balls,” she said. Black adds that there are still just too many mistakes being made on simple plays.
The Lady Tigers will finish their regular season this week as they face off against McAdams on the road on Thursday, before hosting Nanih Waiya on Tuesday and hosting East Webster next Thursday. The Lady Tigers faced off against Velma Jackson this past Tuesday, however results did not meet press deadlines.
