SATURN: The Ringed Giant
Rainwater Observatory in French Camp, MS, will be offering a free program for this season called “SATURN: The Ringed Giant!” It will be presented on Friday, Sep. 10, starting at 7 p.m. by Edwin Faughn, director of Rainwater Observatory.
“SATURN: The Ringed Giant!” explores one of the most beautiful and recognizable planets in the solar system. It is filled with mystery, legend and a wealth of scientific discovery and easily visible in the night sky. This informative presentation will take us on a journey through this majestic ringed planet and reveal some of the most breathtaking imagery and astounding discoveries ever recorded in human history.
After the presentation, weather permitting, an observing session will be held using some of Rainwater’s collection of powerful telescopes. Rainwater Observatory and Planetarium is located one mile east of the Natchez Trace Parkway off MS Highway 413 near the village of French Camp in Mississippi. Come early and enjoy dinner at the Council House, another support ministry of French Camp Academy.

Tent Revival at Broken Wings
There will be a tent revival at 6 p.m. each night from Sep. 13-17, 2021, at Broken Wings Ministry. They will have several guest speakers from all different walks of the Ministry field, including Bro. John Staszefski, Bro. Roger Griffith, Bishop Kelvin Copeland, Bro Jerry Waite, Bro. Larry Martin, and Bro. Maury Jones. There will be congregation hymns and special music. All are welcome for the evenings of fellowship and praise.
Harvest Festival 2021
What better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than a good old-fashioned fall Harvest Festival! October 9, 2021, marks the 69th annual Harvest Festival sponsored by the French Camp Community Club. The fundraiser benefits the local churches as well as FCA.
The main attraction is the Auction where you can bid on handmade items— arts, crafts, quilts, squirrel feeders, furniture, picture frames, and more. Shop the Country Store for jellies and jams, sweet treats, and other homemade and handmade goodies. The Historical District will be filled with traditional arts and crafts demonstrations. Enjoy watching the sorghum mill before buying some to take home. Children will delight in horseback and buggy rides and lots of good food will be available.
Bring the entire family for this fun day.
Yockanookany River fest set
Head to McCool for the Yockanookany River Fest on Saturday, Oct. 2. The town is looking forward to hosting food and craft vendors, enjoying entertainment, and fellowshipping with lots of friends. Come enjoy a day of good family fun.
Big Black River Festival
The West Civic Club has gotten together for the second time organizing the upcoming 42nd Big Black River Festival. It will be held on Saturday, Sep. 11. Yes, that is correct. There will be a special service held that morning to remember the ones from this area that were involved, plus others the world over. More details are upcoming about that. The club plans to have vendors of all sorts: food, clothing, jewelry, antiques and lots of fun.
Again this year, the club will be offering a $100 dollar gift card donated by Marathon station in Kosciusko. This card may be used for gas or anything in their stores and it is good to use at any Marathon station. Tickets for this are $2 each. T-shirts will also be available. More details on the T-shirts later.

Faith Temple Pentecostal singing
Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, Kosciusko, will hold a gospel singing program this fall, October 31, at the Boys and Girls Club called, ‘Coming out singing.’ This gospel program is for all those from surrounding churches who love to sing and would like to participate in making this program and community choir a blast. Rehearsal for this program will be held once a month. The event will feature special tv guest singers from Alabama and from the Mississippi Mass Choir of Jackson, and with other local groups.
