A demand for the termination of the officer driving the car that killed Kadarius Smith was made by Ben Crump attorney for the family of Smith who died in the hospital from his injuries.
Along with a request to have the unedited footage of the tragedy released to the family.
Crump said, Thursday, March 21, in the hours between 2-5 am Smith was on his way home with some friends and the police cruiser began chasing him, according to a witness.
Whatever the edited version of the footage was, it raised more questions than it answered, because after receiving it, the family reached out to Crump, in the hopes of getting to the truth of what happened.
“The circumstances surrounding Kadarius’ death are truly heartbreaking for his mother and loved ones. This tragedy should have never happened and the officers involved must be held accountable. It is unconscionable that an officer would fatally run over a teenager who was running away from them.” Crump said, “We demand that the officer who was driving the cruiser be immediately terminated and that the unedited video footage be released to the family. Kadarius’ family deserves accountability and answers as to how and why he was killed by an officer in such an inhumane way.”
Crump said, "I believe in justice for all, and especially for those without a voice who need our help most of all."
