What the Harris-Walz ticket proposes as it relates to abortion, here are their views and proposed legislation:
• Abortion on demand from one week-40 weeks.
• This X includes "partial birth abortion." Probably too graphic/brutal to describe in print but do google or Duck Duck Go the term for description.
• Minor pregnant children could abort their child without parental notification. Recall that most 13-year-old children are secretly pregnant due to incest. The perpetrator's crime is thus concealed. Ear piercing for minors requires parental consent.
• Harris-Walz ticket would disallow hospitals from any conscience exemption clause. Catholic hospitals, OB-GYN's, RN's etc. (not just nuns!) would be severely penalized if they refused.
Consider these opposing facts:
• Whether 13 or 43, the medical risk to the mother of carrying any infant is quite low, thanks to available and free prenatal care, good nutrition (WIC), and clean water.
• If a pregnant woman becomes ill with the most common maternal issues, diabetes, hypertension, toxemia, placenta issues generally occur AFTER the infant is viable. So, the course of action is simply to deliver the premature infant. LOVE THEM BOTH. Britain now has been delivering premature infants as early as 23 weeks and five days!
• Babies diagnosed with the most common birth defect down syndrome find a waiting list of parents wishing to adopt such a baby! "Problem" solved!
Finally, Ms. Berry's final words are "Women have a choice, a fetus does not, but is dependent for life ON THE WILL OF THE MOTHER." Wow, so there need not be ANY reason save her WILL, to acquire an abortion.
Extend this moral view out.....all children are dependent on the good will of their parents to be fed, to receive medical care, to be safe and I would argue to be loved. If her/Harris' premise is true, what if a woman does not will the good of her infant: 40 weeks, one day, one month, one year old child she ought to be able to commit infanticide. Age en utero ought to extend ex utero????
Take it from me, I with my husband have had eight pregnancies: one adopted child from Vietnam, one placental complication whereby our infant son died, and a daughter with down syndrome. The others were all "regular." Each baby brought their gifts and sorrows/challenges to our family, but not one would we trade. No human being should have autonomy over the life or death of a person, "No matter how small," Dr. Seuss.
Finally, let us not forget it is God who wills life into being. We women are well equipped to cooperate with the Creator God. He and our community are with us if hard times present. VOTE YES TO LIFE NOT DEATH.
