Students in the Attala County School District will be getting free but limited dental care following action of the school board at its Monday night meeting.
Sally McCoy, a representative of Smiles to Go, a mobile dentistry group, gave details of the service available to students K-12. The service is limited to cleanings and x-rays, but referrals will be made if problems are detected, she told the board members. She passed out instructions detailing consent forms and other steps to be followed in preparation for visits by the mobile dentistry group.
In personnel matters, the resignation of Lisa Sartain was accepted and Karla Summers was hired. List of substitute teachers was approved and Timothy Earl Wise was approved for head custodian at McAdams High School.
Board members granted approval for acceptance of district students who are children of employees. Laken and Kaley Keith were given in district transfer approval from McAdams to Ethel.
Approval was given for sole source providers Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Shurley Instructional Materials, Study Island and EPS Literacy and Intervention.
In 16th section matters, the bid for aerial spraying was awarded to Provine Helicopter at a cost of $70 per acre and the lease held by Ben Murphy was reinstated.
Bus easements were approved for Robert Pettit Jr., Larissa Morgan and Terry Pope.
The matter of approving additional pay for environmental testing of lagoons was tabled.
