Four Holmes County residents were arrested last week at a safety checkpoint in Attala County and charged with drug possession.
Attala County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ken Terrell Bell, 20; Nicholas Deon Bell, 27; Daimonesha Toloereese Cooks, 24; and Tevin Tramane Pitchford, 29. All four were in the same vehicle at the checkpoint. They were each charged with possession of marijuana with intent.
“There was a large amount of marijuana,” in the vehicle, said Chief Deputy Zelie Shaw.
Deputies found 914 grams of marijuana, heroin and 24 grams of another controlled substance that is believed to be ecstasy, said Shaw. Deputies also found two firearms — both handguns — and about $1,600 in cash, he said.
Pitchford also received two charges of possession of a controlled substance and a charge of disorderly conduct for resisting arrest and fleeing the scene on foot.
The safety checkpoint was set up about half a mile outside Kosciusko city limits at the bypass at Highways 12 and 43 on July 20.
All four were taken to Leake County Correctional Facility.
