My sisters and I grew up with parents who loved to entertain, and the biggest decision was usually what was for dessert. Homemade ice cream is something we love, especially ice cream made by our grandmother, Thelma Sexton.

I have a nephew that I really love, and he is one of the funniest people I have ever been around.
My entire family was in a restaurant one time and were enjoying a buffet. As my nephew filled his plate, he made the remark, “My plate ain’t big enough.”
Only 120 players were taken in this year’s Major League Baseball Draft. Mississippi supplied eight of those players: three from Mississippi State, two from Ole Miss, two from high school and one a Mississippi native who was playing at the University of Tennessee.
While on this Father’s Day, we could have been watching the Rebels and Bulldogs face off in Omaha, or the Lakers and Bucks face off in the NBA Finals, or maybe even our children start city league baseball, COVID-19 had other plans.
Late last year U.S. Rep. John Lewis announced he was battling stage IV pancreatic cancer. No one knows how long the 80-year-old Democrat from Atlanta, whose accomplishments include organizing the 1963 March on Washington, will be with us.
