Samuel Hammond Chapter members attend state conference
MSSDAR Samuel Hammond Chapter members Hollee Casey, Sarah Cheek, Dorothy Harmon, Ellen Pettit and Pat Proctor, along with her husband Billy Proctor, attended the 114th State Conference for the Mississippi State Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Jackson on Feb. 21. After a business session on Friday morning, they attended the National Defense Luncheon with guest speaker Colonel Marcia L. Quigley, Commander of the 81st Mission Support Group at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. The 45th president general of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Denise Doring VanBuren, was also in attendance. The Samuel Hammond Chapter received 14 awards for its work promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Member Pat Proctor was awarded The “Above and Beyond” Helper Award for the valuable assistance she gives her fellow chapter members.
