Attala County Schools hold community meeting on school superintendent search

The Attala County School District has engaged the services of the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) Superintendent Search Service to assist in identifying candidates for school superintendent. The move comes after changes allowed the county school board to change the position from one that is elected to one that is hired by the board.
Although the board voted to change it to a hired position, members encouraged current Superintendent Bryan Weaver to apply to remain in the role.
Two different opportunities are being offered for stakeholders to provide feedback related to the search.
The first is by attending face-to-face stakeholder meetings. During these meetings, the search process will be explained. Paper surveys will be distributed at the meeting and oral responses from those in attendance will be recorded.
Parents and community members from Ethel and Greenlee areas will meet in the Greenlee Elementary School gym at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7. Parents and community members from McAdams and the Long Creek areas will meet in the Long Creek gym at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7. Both sessions are expected to last about one hour.
The second opportunity to provide feedback is through an online survey posted at the MSBA website. The survey can be accessed by any stakeholder and is anonymous. It will be posted for two weeks following the face-to-face stakeholder meetings at
The results of the paper survey, in person comments and online survey be compiled into a report provided to the school board.
