BREAKING NEWS: Murder suspects in custody

By KAREN FIORETTI,

Kosciusko Police Chief Herbert Dew confirmed to The Star-Herald that the two suspects in last Wednesday's murder of Rodney Williams are in custody. Ruben Bell and Stephen Adams are accused of killing Williams and shooting another individual in front of 912 North Natchez Street just after 2 p.m. last Wednesday.

The two men turned themselves in at the police department late this morning, though neither has made a statement to police at this time. Each man is being held on a $200,000 bond for murder and a $50,000 bond as a felon in possession of a firearm. The US Marshall's office assisted the department in transporting the two men to the Leake County Correctional facility.

"We've been in contact with their attorney and as a result, the attorney came and they showed up a little later and turned themselves in," said Dew. "I do want to thank the US Marshall's Task Force for their assistance."

A preliminary hearing date has not yet been set and Dew said additional charges may be forthcoming as the incident remains under investigation.
